The Israel Cycling Federation has given 10 bicycles to the Foundation for Children at Risk.
A new collaboration between the Israel Cycling Federation and a non-profit organization for children at risk resulted in the Federation’s first donation of ten bicycles to a special nursery school for autistic children. The small bikes were donated to the Israel Cycling Federation at the “Bikes For All” event on April 4th in Tel Aviv. The Foundation for Children at Risk appreciated the gift of these small bicycles to their kindergarten. They will use the bikes to help develop the motor and learning skills of the young autistic children in their care.
The Israel Cycling Federation and the staff of the Bikes For All project are very happy to set up this new and important process of donating bicycles for the use of youth at risk. We promise that this donation will be the first of many. We are committed to introducing bicycles into special educational frameworks and we aim to arrange further donations for young children with special needs.
“We are very grateful to all those who have donated bicycles recently and enabled us to pass them on to those who can most profit from them,” said a member of the Bikes For All team. “We also hope that the public will continue to donate bicycles so that we can continue to enable and promote cycling among youth at risk.”
Psychologist Hadas Karni, a representative of the Foundation for Youth at Risk said: “The children in the nursery school and all the staff received the donated bikes with a natural joy. The bicycles will help us to develop the children’s motor skills and their balance. They will also help the children to develop communication skills, both with adults and with the other children. We are grateful to the Israel Cycling Federation for their initiative and their donation.”
About the Foundation for Youth at Risk: The Center for Youth at Risk was set up to answer the need for early identification and appropriate treatment for youth at risk developmentally. In the early years, the non-profit organization focused on autistic children and autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) through multi-disciplinary professional teams. After specializing in the treatment for such children, the organization was able to define the optimal treatment for each child. The organization managed to gain support from the Israeli government’s Finance Ministry for treatment of those infants who have been diagnosed by the Health Ministry as having ASD. Today the Foundation for Youth at Risk is the biggest organization in Israel that gives treatment to children who have been diagnosed with autism and ASD and are in a special education framework. In recent years the organization has widened its activities to help children at risk from external or internal sources.
